Elias & Minnie are buried in Fairview Cemetery in Smith Center, Kansas. He passed away at his home in Smith Center. Minnie, later went to Tieton, Washington to live with her daughters. She died in Yakima at Central Convalence Nursing Home at age 96.
Land record in Smith County, Kansas, Martin Twp., "The East half of the Northwest quarter of section 36, Twp 1, South of range 14, West of the 6PM. Purchased from Charles Gardner & wife Anna. March 19, 1919 for $3000.
Elias was a farmer, Baptist and lived in Iowa, Oklahoma and Kansas.
From Aunt Rose Tilton: Elias and Minnie went in a covered wagon to live near them in the Spring. Bill & Nina went to school in Great Bend, Kansas in the winter of 1909. Elias homesteaded in Diamond, Oklahoma in 1906 or 7. They had a deep well dug, and the kids played with the Butler kids in the summer. Nina ran into a barbed wire fence and cut her forehead.
Commutation Patent Record, State of Oklahoma, County of Texas, J. C. Williams, registrar of deeds. Certificate No. Woodard 016224. Whereas Elias Thomas, deposited in General Land Office of the United States, a certificate of the Register of the Land Office at Woodward, Oklahoma, whereby it appears a full patent has been made by the said Elias Thomas according to the provision of the act of Congress of the 24 day of 1820 an act making and act supplemental for further provision for the sale of public lands there for the South half of the Northwest quarter and the South half of the Northeast quarter of Section thirty-two in township one North of Range fifteen east of the Cimarron Meridan Oklahoma containing one hundred sixty acres according to the official Plat of the Survey of the said lands, returned to the General Land Office by the Surveyed General which said tract has been purchased by the said Elias Thomas. Now know ye that the United States of America, in consideration of the the premises; and in conformity with the several acts described, to have and to hold the same together with all the rights privileges, immunities and appurtenance of whatsoever nature there unto belonging into the said Elia Thomas and to his heirs and assigns forever. Eleventh day of February, Nine Hundred and Ten. By the President, Wm. H. Taft, M. W. Young, Secretary , H. W. Sandford, Patent Number recorded 110887. (That land is now full of oil wells!!)

Shaw & Sons Funeral Home. Mrs. Hannah Minnie, 96, died Thursday, March 24, 1977, in Madison Fountain Nursing Home, where she had lived since March, 1976. Mrs. Thomas was born in Leando, Iowa, and moved to Tieton nine years ago to live with a daughter, Mrs. Nina V. Thomas.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Nina V. Clemans and Mrs. Neva Russell, both of Tieton; a son, William J. Thomas, of Kingsington, Kan.; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and three nieces. Her husband, Elias Thomas, died in 1959 in Smith Center, Kan. Funeral services and burial will be at Smith Center, Kansas.
